Invisalign First

It is necessary to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything apart from cold water. Eating while wearing Invisalign braces may result in you chewing through your aligners and breaking them. Dark coloured food and drinks will also risk staining your Invisalign aligners which will make them look unsightly.

This will depend on the complexity of the condition being treated as certain movements can take longer than others. Typically, treatment can last between 4-12 months. However, the treatment period will also be determined by your child’s compliance and adherence to wearing the aligners for the appropriate amount of time.

The First Invisalign appointment typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes. During this time, your orthodontist will assess your child’s teeth, take impressions or digital scans, and discuss the treatment plan. Once the impressions or digital scans are taken, it typically takes about 1 to 2 weeks for the first set of Invisalign trays to be ready. Your orthodontist will notify you once the aligners are ready, and you can then schedule an appointment to receive them.

Each new aligner set shifts your teeth gradually. The first few days of a new aligner may result in some tenderness, but that will subside. You will likely forget you have your aligners in for the better part of most of your days while using Invisalign®. If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers will alleviate any aching or soreness.

Invisalign can be a great option for some children, especially for those who are self-conscious about wearing braces or who have mild to moderate orthodontic issues. The aligners are clear, removable, and more comfortable than traditional metal braces. However, Invisalign may not be suitable for all children, particularly for more severe orthodontic issues. Your orthodontist can assess your child’s needs and determine the best treatment option.

Intercepting and treating issues with the bite or alignment at earlier stage will prevent the issues from becoming more extensive over time which could make treatment more difficult and expensive. Also treating your child early will allow us to utilise the growth potential of your child which can make treatment times shorter.
